Lesson 4: The Rewrite & Renewal of Your Soul Agreement(s)

Welcome to The Rewrite! This is an exciting and pivotal experience of this course. We are aware of the power of our intentions, beliefs, thoughts, and our written word, as well as the power of our subconscious minds.

As we combine all of these factors to now move into a renewed awareness of our Soul Agreement, be it a refinement of the current or a drastic shift of our previous path, it is equally powerful.

I believe we are born with a Soul agreement(s), ie., contract, (the term Soul Agreement and Soul Contract are used interchangeably in this course). God (Divine Source) sends us into this life with a purpose. Within our Soul Contract, the sacredness of that agreement is written in our spiritual DNA. Along life’s way, we can become disconnected from what our true purpose is drifting off the path from its most potent pathway. As we get off track, we become out of alignment with our agreements unknowingly. This is normal and a universal human experience.

We now have an opportunity to rediscover and reconnect with our innermost knowings.

We have a second (third, fourth, fifth...) chance to live our life the way we now choose —free will. Each day we have the ability to begin to create this experience. Seeking our path, guided by the Divine, places us in a cosmic playground. When we are seeking guidance as to what we already intrinsically know, but have temporarily forgotten, we are in a life altering space. 

As big and free as our imaginations are, that is the only limit we face in balance, garnered by a spiritually mature intent. What if you could reincarnate without the pesky details of dying and being reborn? What if you could be reborn every day? I am here to tell you, you can do just that. We have all heard that no matter how big our dreams and visions may be, what our Higher Power has in store is grander than our own imaginations can grasp - or imagine! I challenge you to embrace this truth. Have faith that the Divine is awaiting you to co-create and tangibly actualize your Offering.

We now, purposefully, and with sacred intent, prepare to rediscover, reassess, refine, come into alignment with our Soul Agreement taking the next step in unleashing our power, purpose and inner self-fueled fierceness which has been Lovingly placed within us by Divine design.

We have begun the process of the clearing, aligning with our truth, discovering our blocks and self-sabotaging behaviors (both conscious and subconscious) and moved into discovering and refining our Offering.

This courageous and honest look into ourselves has brought us to the time we can now return to the sacred contract of our lives in order to allow this calling to manifest, call into being, in its most natural and Divine way. As we begin to rediscover, return to, our Offering we create a passionate prayer of affirmation, awareness, surrender and request for guidance. This is a tremendous opportunity and powerful part of the process.

We can now change our commitments to self and others to statements that reinforce the ultimate goal and good for our Offering. For this exercise, we will focus on one general Soul Agreement rewrite. The “rewrite” is a process of getting back to purpose. We do not rewrite the soul contract that has already been established, we rewrite the stories we have created that thwart its fruition.

Remember, as we use the term rewrite be aware it is using the power of the written word as we evaluate the space and cycles we currently inhabit purposefully bringing us into closer alignment with the original Divine design. Also, remain aware you can do specific rewrites for varying areas of your life including (but not limited to) relationships (with self, friends, family, lovers, etc.), finances and career, and so forth.

As an example of Soul Agreement; you may have acquired a subconscious and/or energetic (spiritual) agreement of martyrdom. To deprive ourselves, overcommit, and suffer needlessly may play a part of the plan for our lives, but we are to do the work to heal from this as we learn the lessons is teaches. We return to the knowing. Don’t overthink in a way of why is this or that a part of my Soul Agreement. Instead embrace the sacred lessons of them.

Spiritual teachings direct us to how we may live to the fullest in abundance. While this does not equate the promise of a perfect life, it does speak to the highest of intentions for our life God has set forth for us. It serves no purpose to continually take on the attributes of being a martyr.

However, throughout our lives, events and situations occur that attach themselves to us. This rewrite is the opportunity to take into account our life experiences thus far and make our way back to the space we knew to be true before wounds, traumas and other false messages, life, set into our beliefs of who we are and who we truly are in our highest form.

How powerful and sacred an opportunity to go into our inner-world where higher thoughts await us through seeking awareness of our true selves. This guidance in how we fully return to that purest connection with our Soul and its direction in moving forward. This is a sacred and precious exchange to be cherished.

This weeks lesson is focused on writing out, preferably by hand, an agreement, to acknowledge, clarify and precisely define, not the steps (i.e. step by step blueprint) toward your purpose and offering, but the willingness and choice to be in alignment with your Divine purpose and Offering.

Please keep in mind it needn’t be anything auspiciously grand in the world's eyes. This is your personal conversation, your prayer, between your Soul and your God. 

We often get caught up in believing our life purpose must be grandiose in the eyes of the world as we live in a culture and social media-driven society where we are given subconscious, and conscious, messages that to achieve is the highest of success and basis of our value. Such beliefs are a deception. I invite you to reign back such programmings and during this process be aware that we each have our unique purpose.

Yours may be to teach a classroom full of beautiful children that will be a part of our next generation, to write a best-selling book that will change lives, to write a book (or teaching) that will touch only a few lives —but significantly, to create an organization offering life-changing assistance to humanity; it may also be to live a life of precious simplicity where you are a beacon of stability and peace to others. Our offerings are endless and all equally valuable and needed in the symphony of life.

It is a misconception to believe we are in control of the universe. The universe operates by a set of laws, much as software. I believe the universe is God’s software. This being so, I go to the Divine, not the universe, for direction. Yet, I recognize the tool of the universe and its purpose. Why seek answers in middle management when you have direct access to the CEO?

I believe God has created and provided the universe to have our backs, to work in our favor when we are in alignment and understand its workings. The universe is unemotional and constant awaiting our direction. It is not a genie in a bottle, it is a programmed support system that is in flux as to our choices, our free will. We are not robots. However, when we have a clear concise vision that is simultaneously flexible, this is the sacred space of co-creation takes place. 

There is a balance between telling God what we want and listening to and tuning into what is already there for us. 

In prayer, we give thanks and seek guidance. While in meditation we listen in stillness with a clear mind and receive while awaiting direction. Do you see the difference between this and the ideology that all we have to do is dictate to the universe what which we want versus the interplay of Divine relationship we encounter when we take this spiritually mature and grounded path?

This is another essential principle that is missing in most self-help, self-development and spiritual teachings in our modern culture. The law of attraction has always been. It is not new age, it is Ancient Wisdom. When the term ‘law of attraction’ became popular again, many people became out of balance with its workings and then frustrated, confused and even devastated when they could not manifest what they wanted.

Countless felt inadequate because they did not have the ability to instantly manifest their desires. I say this in Love; this view of the law of attraction is a spiritually immature interpretation of one of the most sacred gifts of the Divine. Once again, it was not their fault, it was not your fault, but misinformation resulting in misguidedness. Therefore we have, once again largely unknowingly, become out of alignment with our Soul Agreement in ways that are not serving us and not solely our fault.

We now take purposeful action toward realignment with the Divine design of our Offering. And it applies to all aspects of our lives; our purpose is not separate from the complete wellbeing of our body, mind and Soul; including our health (physical, spiritual and mental), relationships and inner-life.

The Rewrite is a sacred affirmation, as all prayers are, allowing us to (re)attain a razor-sharp focus on those things we are destined to create on the interior, our Soul experience, thus manifesting in the exterior world.

At the same time, I once again emphasize remaining balanced in the knowing that which is meant for us is already awaiting us. This rewrite, or renewal, is a purposeful intention to return to ourselves and the original Divine design of our Offering. It is the balance of focused intention, (re)claiming our power, the discipline of our actions and the ability to be flexible, in the flow, to surrender to the ultimate Creator which is all-knowing. This moves us into the realm of miraculous shifts and the unleashing of our purpose and Offering.

Why am I repeating this? Because it needs to be heard several times. Write it out in your journal. Remember, this is how we change thoughts and realign with truth versus misconceptions that result in cycles of sabotage and stagnation. 

When we set our Souls up to receive and give the purity of compassion and Love consistently to ourselves and others with the highest of intentions, the rest comes almost effortlessly. This is a vital aspect at this stage of the course going forward; learning and implementing new levels of self-care while making the art of receiving a part of our daily lives.

Now, let’s review the previous lessons, Soul Work exercises including the journaling you have been doing, to reframe, redirect and shape with the intention that which we will purposefully take part in (co)creating remembering all creation is indeed co-creation.

Throughout this course be aware, especially in the final lesson, creating and creativity is the result of communication and experience is a Divine encounter.

In order to live a truly authentic life we have to get real with ourselves about who and where we are. Now is our opportunity to evaluate the condition of our Soul.

Empowerment Steps:

To accelerate and fortify efforts during the course we incorporate Empowerment Steps that can be immediately implemented into action daily.

This week we add a new Empowerment Step as we continue reaffirming the previous week's intentions:

1.  I move through the ebbs and flows with ease as I move through the course.

2.  I am continually encouraged and lifted up knowing the clearing is preparing me for the next level.

3.  I embrace this journey with dedication knowing I will see evidence of enduring change being created with each lesson encounter as they build upon one another.

4.  I am patient with myself and the process, taking the time to celebrate each step of forward movement.

5.  I accept and acknowledge life is a process of learning and growth is to be enjoyed and savored, not a performance or expectation of perfection.

6.  I am a unique and Divine being who has a purpose and special gift to experience individually and to collectively offer the world. I accept this as a universal truth and welcome its ultimate manifestation as it unfolds in my life daily.

7.  I have the power to rewrite, reframe, redirect and shape with the intention that which I wish to create in my life for I am an active author of my experience and story.

Soul Contract: Creating Your Sacred Life

After taking time to reflect on the lessons thus far I now ask you to sit with a pen and paper.

Place the date at the top of the paper.

Begin with a statement such as:

“I, (name here) now make the choice to Renew, Return to, Rewrite (amend where needed) and Realign with my Soul Agreement. I now completely and lovingly release myself from former alterations of this Divine agreement which no longer serve my highest good.”

This is an individual free-writing experience. Use your intuition guided by the Divine through meditative prayer, the following thought prompts and explorations to rediscover, unearth, develop and write your renewed Soul Agreement:

Begin with the willingness to surrender previous plans trusting in the Divine to guide you to your ultimate Offering. 

Release the need to control; welcome grounded surrender.

Examine and amend agreements you have previously lived within that no longer serve you. These can be self adopted or placed on you by others. (Remember the example of martyrdom.)

Release the linear mind frame and expand your insight to be in a sacred space of receiving.

Welcome, invite in, those awaiting with the highest of intentions who are meant to be a part of your Divine purpose.

State your willingness of release to that which no longer serves you. Be specific.

List your talents and gifts, giving gratitude for them.

List those areas you feel limitations and ask for Divine assistance in these areas you require it.

State specific areas that you wish to attain a deeper level of understanding. 

Make clear statements of intention reaffirming your purpose while asking for Divine interception and guidance.

Remember, this too is a process. You can go back at any time, and are encouraged to do so, to edit your renewed return and alignment with your Soul Agreement as you are led. It is a work of art is progress.

Soulwork:

This week, to build your renewed sacred contract, I invite you to write a mission statement. In meditative prayer write out that which you believe you are called to do as if you are already doing it.

Then ask for God to reveal to you or reaffirm your Offering. For those who feel they do not know what their purpose is I encourage you to revisit the previous lessons and set within your spirit a reflective reception for the Divine to whisper to you that which is already within. 

You will be amazed that within in the weeks, months (and years) to come as you revisit this mission statement as to the power it holds. Setting an intention, surrendering to God’s will, practicing gratitude and both compassion for other and the self while holding this prayer in your heart will bring to you that which is meant to be. 

This is where faith comes into play on a grander level. Know, don’t simply believe, that what is meant to come to you will. This is also an opportunity to practice a deeper level of stillness as we sit in silence, without expectations, in the presence of the Divine. You may be thinking, “But wait a minute, I’m doing this to get my signs to know my Offering.” When we visit the sacredness of Love, which is the essence of the above, the rest occurs organically. 

And that is the true ‘secret.’ 

Not that you are a genie or have one. No, you are much more precious and powerful than this. When you’re in the presence of the God-Mind, (Love) all you could ever require is there. And God delights in your presence in the sacred space of going within yourself where the Divine awaits you. 

Revisit your renewed Soul Agreement daily, if possible, rereading and editing as you feel intuitively guided throughout the week.

Associated Energy Exercise:

Choose a relaxing piece of music, or possibly a recording of singing bowls. Focus your gaze on the flame of a candle (in a safe area) or another focal point. As you do so envision your energy centers coming into complete alignment. From the top of your head to the bottom of your feet visualize and feel the energy centers (chakras in Sanskrit) of your body and spirit unifying, interweaving, as they strengthen and reset themselves to their original Divine design.

Journaling of Progress:

Make note each day of the shifts occurring as you process your Soul Agreement journey. This is a sacred time of renewal and rebirth. Honoring even the slightest of awarenesses reinforces and invites continued guidance.
